QUARTER FOUR BINDER ASSIGNMENTS 2015

Art Binder Assignment #7 "Modern Masterpieces"

We are all familiar with some of the most famous works of art hanging in museums around the world: Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Claude Monet's Waterlilies and Edvard Munch's,  The Scream.  These iconic works not only hang in museums, but can be found on coffee mugs, t-shirts, note cards and even underwear!

Your task for this next binder assignment is to choose a famous work of art (you can pick a famous painting of your choice ) and MODERNIZE IT!

  1. Choose a famous work of art
  2. Decide how you want to MODERNIZE it.
  3. Try to replicate the painting using pencil, colored pencil, marker or paint, but instead of just recreating the work of art as you see it, ADD or MODIFY the painting to look modern.
  4. Be creative!  What can you do to change the work of art into  a modern masterpiece?

If you are looking for a list of ideas, Google some of these paintings for inspiration:
Van Gogh's Starry Night
Lichtenstein's Crying Girl
Grant Wood's American Gothic

Art Binder Assignment #8 "Everyday Art"

This, your last art binder assignment of the year, requires some major CREATIVITY!   For this assignment, you need to  do the following:

  1. Find a small everyday object.  Maybe a rubber band, paper clip, bottle cap, birthday candle, pen cap...search for a variety of objects to work from.
  2. Create a drawing around that object.  Literally, draw around the object to make it become a part of your art.
  3. Your drawing can be in colored pencil, marker or pen and ink or pencil.  Please remember, if just using pencil, you must add VALUE!
  4. You can submit your drawing with your object if possible,  OR take a picture of your drawing with the object and put in your Google Drive Art folder.
Check out these examples by artist, Victor Nunes for inspiration for your own, ORIGINAL drawings!

All drawings are due the week of May 18th.  Be sure to check your exact due date on MyUSM!
