This is your observational drawing for the quarter. You must first select a piece of fruit to draw from real life. You can draw the entire fruit, or you can draw it cut in half if that is a more interesting composition. You should observe closely, using pencil first to draw the basic shape, and then color using colored pencil. Be sure to use good pressure to solidly fill in your shape. Blend colors for more realism. All drawings are due the week of November 14th. Happy drawing!
Binder Assignment #4 "Expressions from the Middle"
When I moved to Arizona from Japan it felt like I was going to die. I did not fit in. I stood out like a rainbow in a black and white picture. Eventually, people got used to me. I changed a little. They changed a little. Now I feel at home. |
This next binder assignment is a chance for your to really express what is important to you as a Middle School student. Not only will it fulfill your requirement for my class, but you may choose to do this assignment for a contest initiated by National Middle School Association (NMSA).
Here is what they are looking for:
- create an original piece of artwork that represents the theme “Expressions from the Middle.”
- Show us how today’s young adolescents lead the way in making a positive difference in their homes, schools, community, and world.
- Include two or three sentences telling us about your artwork and how it relates to the theme.
- Choose your favorite type of media to work with: oils, watercolors, charcoal, colored pencils, sculpture, computer generated graphics, or multimedia (no glitter, please). We cannot accept pencil or pen drawings on notepad paper.

EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT...
Here are some ideas to get you thinking about what you might like to draw:
- what kind of questions are on my mind as a Middle School student
- what advice have I heard from a family member, teacher, coach or friend that I can apply to my life in Middle School
- what issues am I dealing with or are we dealing with as a school
- how can I improve my life as a Middle School student
