QUARTER THREE

Binder Assignment #5 "Art Is..."

As we move into the 3rd quarter, we begin to prepare for this year's Gallery Night on April 29th.  This next binder assignment kicks off our preparation for this great event.  Our theme this year is "Art Is..." and for this assignment you are to pick up a letter template from my room of one of the letters found in the pharse "Art Is..."
Your job is to design the letter however you wish and still connecting it to the theme of "Art Is..."
You may design just the letter, transform the letter into a unique/original shape, or design the letter and the negative space around it.  You must use pen and ink, sharpies or other colored markers for this drawing.  (Colored pencil is okay as long as you apply good pressure so the colors are bold and solidly filled in). Be ORIGINAL and be CREATIVE!
From your drawings, I will select an image(s) to use for this year's Gallery Night posters and postcards.
All drawings are due the week of February 14th.  Be sure to check the portal for your section's exact due date.

Binder Assignment #6 "Hands Off"

Have you ever taken a really close look at your hand?  Does it ever remind you of something else? If you could morph your hand into something else, what would it be?  For this drawing assignment, you will need to think about how you can change your hand into something unexpected.  Will the fingers become branches of a tree while the arm forms the trunk?  Perhaps each finger will morph into an animal?  You decide!  This is your opportunity to really push the limits of your imagination to create something unusual, or even a bit silly.  You should begin with a close observational drawing of your hand.  DO NOT TRACE THE OUTLINE OF YOUR HAND!   Once the hand drawing is in place, begin to transform the fingers, palm of the hand, wrist, etc... into an original design.  You may use colored pencil or markers for this drawing, but be sure to begin with the light pencil sketch of your hand based on close observation! All drawings are due the week of March 7th. Be sure to check the portal for your exact section's due date.
