QUARTER ONE

Binder Assignment # 1 "Crazy Combos"

Have you ever seen a toaster with alligator legs?  What about a light-bulb combined with a telephone? For this first binder assignment of the year,  you will focus on creating an observational drawing that uses your creativity as well.  You will need to select two objects to combine in a unique and unusual way.  The objects can be man-made or from nature.  You should OBSERVE the objects you want to draw to be sure they are drawn as realistically as possible.  Be creative in the way in which you choose to connect the objects.  The drawing should be done in pencil first and then ADD COLOR with colored pencil!  The example does not show color, but you should add color with colored pencil.  Be creative and original and select objects that are challenging, but object you can draw. ALL DRAWINGS ARE DUE THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12.  Please be sure to check the portal for your art section's exact due date that week. Happy drawing!

Binder Assignment # 2 "What's the Word?"

Think of a word that brings to mind a mental picture.  Got one?  Now, create a drawing of the WORD as the SHAPE of the object you were thinking of.  For example, use the letters a-p-p-l-e, to create the shape of an apple like in the image below.  Be creative and original.  Think of the word and begin by lightly drawing the contour (outline) of the shape.  Then, carefully place the letters - use "bubble" type letters, within the shape.  Be sure to erase the contour line so we just focus on the letters to imply the shape.  Your drawing should include color. You may use crayons, markers or colored pencils. ALL DRAWINGS ARE DUE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 3.  Please be sure to check the portal for your art section's exact due date that week. Happy drawing!
