This day will bring together all of the fine arts at USM to showcase the amazing talent of our student body.  Art, music, dance and drama will fill our walls, hallways and gymnasiums.  To prepare for this inaugural event, we( the Fine Arts teachers) are looking for some amazing artwork to help promote this afternoon of art.
You are being asked to submit a drawing based on the following theme:

Arts Live @ USM
Coloring Outside the Lines

You can create anything that promotes the arts and ties into our theme above.  You can focus on just one of the fine arts, or create a drawing that represents all of the fine arts.
You can use any materials, but be sure the color is bold! All drawings can be done on art binder paper.Remember, your design might be selected to use for Arts Live@USM, so as always, put forth your best effort!
Here are just a few examples of artwork based on the fine arts to inspire you.

Art Binder Assignment # 5 " The MLK Way"

In 1957, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: " Life's most persistent and urgent questions is:
What are you doing for others?"

Today, that is our theme for your next art binder assignment. We are going to honor the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. King's call to service.

Let's get started:
Think about the ways in which you serve others.  Are you helping out by watching your neighbor's children while they run errands (for no charge), do you offer to shovel the driveway of your elderly neighbor, are you stocking shelves at the local food pantry? Take time to stop and really think about what you do for others.
Now, create a poster inspired by your service!

These works of art will be considered as entries for a national contest sponsored by Scholastic.
Here are their requirements:
The Details:
All entries must showcase:
A creative, artistic interpretation of “The Challenge”
An inspirational message, calling on young people to engage in service Originality
Technical skill

Any artistic medium may be used.

You can still use art binder paper, or the 11x17 xerox paper I will provide in the art room. Please note that my deadline is earlier as I need to ensure your work is ready to mail with the appropriate forms complete.
ALL POSTERS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO MRS. MARKWALD THE WEEK OF
