QUARTER THREE

Binder Assignment #5 "The Lucky Logo"

Apple, Nike, Ralph Lauren... they all have one, a LOGO!  Well, I want one too!  Your job for this binder assignment is to design a logo for my art blog, "Young at Art."  This one is a contest too!  The winner of this binder assignment will have their logo posted on my art blog, FOREVER!  Just in case you are unsure of what a logo is, click on the link to read the definition and see some examples. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logo
You can design the logo using whatever materials you want: colored pencils, marker, the computer, etc... DO NOT COPY a logo off the internet.  BE ORIGINAL in your design!  I look forwoard to seeing your creative ideas!  These drawings are due the week of February 6th.  Be sure to check the portal for your section's exact due date.
One last thing, this binder assignment was suggested by two sixth graders, Katherine and Nick!  Thanks for the great idea:)

Binder Assignment #6 "Pet Portraits"

Dogs, cats, fish, horses, bunnies, lizards....what do they have in common?  They all make great pets! I'm sure there are some that I have missed, but whatever pets you have, now is the time to honor them with a portrait drawing!  If you can get your pet to hold still long enough, create a portrait drawing of your pet.  For those more active pets, you may want to snap a quick picture to use as inspiration.  You pet portrait may be done in any materials you like and can be in any style you like.  This means you may choose to do a realistic interpretation of your pet, or something more abstract or non-representational.
Here are two examples, one realistic and one abstract:

If you choose, you can also work 3-dimensionally.  If you don't have a pet, create a work of art about an animal you wish you had!  Be creative and make it work!  This binder assignment is due the week of March 5th.  Be sure to check the portal for you art section's exact due date.
