QUARTER TWO

Binder Assignment # 3 "A Stippled Still Life"

This binder assignment incorporates two very important art concepts: stippling and still life.  You may, or may not know what these terms mean, but to make this assignment easier for you, I included two great links to help you understand both terms.  Once you've read through the links, continue reading the directions for this assignment below!

Stippling  CLICK TO SEE VIDEO(he uses pencil, but I want you to use pen!)
Still Life CLICK FOR DEFINITION

For this drawing, you should select one (no more than two) objects that you would like to draw.  Using a black fine tipped marker, I recommend an ultra fine sharpie or something smaller.  You will begin by OBSERVEING your object very carefully.  I suggest you make a very light underdrawing of the basic shape of your object paying attention to the size of your object and your paper - always plan your composition.  Then begin to stipple the drawing using only dots going over the light pencil lines.  The dots create the form.  The closer you put the dot's, the denser/darker the area becomes. The farther apart the dots are, the lighter your form becomes. You must take your time and thoughtfully place each dot on the paper.  All drawings are due the week of November 26th. Please be sure to check the portal for your sections exact due date. Happy drawing!
Here are a few examples of drawings that were done using stippling.

Binder Assignment #4  "Creative Color Wheels"

We've all seen color wheels before and we know how important color is as an element of art.  For this binder assignment, you are to create your own, original color wheel.  Be sure look at a traditional color wheel to make sure you include the primary and secondary colors, but you can create the wheel using any method you like.  You can create a collaged colored wheel, you can draw your own draw using markers, colored pencil or crayons, or you can paint a color wheel, or come up with something completely different!  The choice is yours! This binder assignment is due the week of December 10th. Please be sure to check the portal for your section's exact due date.
Happy drawing!
Here are some examples to spark your imagination.
