QUARTER ONE - 2012

Binder Assignment # 1 "Hilarious Hair!"

Have you ever woken up with hair looking like this?  I know I've had some crazy hair days in my lifetime!  For this binder assignment I want you to create a portrait drawing of yourself with wild and crazy hair.  This should be a LINE drawing, so no shading/rendering.  I highly suggest you use a mirror, orientate your paper the portrait way,  and plan your space so that you have room for your hair.  Don't forget to use the proportions  of the face you've learned about in the past.  Be sure to use a variety of line styles: wavy, zigzag, broken/dashed, thin, thick etc... You should also ONLY USE BLACK PEN (preferably a fine or ultra fine permanent marker)  I have them in the art room for you to come and get one if you need it.  NO COLOR PLEASE.  Take your time to develop a rich variety of lines to represent a full head of hair!  Don't make it look as those you only have a few strands of hair!  All drawings will be do the week of September  10th.  Please check the USM Portal for your section's exact due date.  Late work will result in missing points!
Do your best! Happy drawing!

Binder Assignment #2  "A Cup of Creativity"

Have you ever looked at a paper cup and wondered, "Hmm, what could I make out of this?" Well, now is your chance!  Each student will receive ONE paper cup from me to transform into whatever you want it to be! You may pick up your cup from me anytime after Labor Day.  You are required to use the cup somehow in your sculpture, but it may be altered in any way you want.  You may choose to cut it, paint it, collage on it, flatten it, etc...the choice is yours!  BE ORIGINAL and USE YOUR IMAGINATION!  If you choose to use addition cups in your sculpture, you must provide them yourself.  I've included a few examples of the outstanding cup creations our USM students made a few years ago.  Use them as your inspiration, but remember to develop your own, unique ideas!
These sculptures will be due the week of October 8th.  Please remember to check the portal for your section's specific due date.
Do your best!
Happy sculpting!
