QUARTER FOUR

Binder Assignment #7 "The Super Sandwich"

We all like to eat, right?  I especially like to eat sandwiches, all different kinds, from turkey on rye with sauerkraut, swiss cheese and thousand island dressing (otherwise known as a turkey rueben), to mozzeralla, basil and tomato grilled to perfection on panini bread. YUM!
For this drawing, you are to create the ultimate sandwich.  Use your IMAGINATION and CREATIVITY to draw a REALISTIC sandwich that can have totally UNREALISTIC ingredients just draw them to look real!  You can draw your favorite "real" sandwich/burger too, it's totally up to you. These drawing are due the week of April 22nd.  Please check the portal for your section's exact due date.

Here are some things to think about and some elements I hope to see in your drawing:

  • good use of space
  • begin with a top bun/bread and end with the bottom bun/bread
  • draw all the "ingredients" in a realistic style - we should be able to identify each layer of your sandwich
  • COLOR - the color should represent the real colors of your ingredients, for example, red tomoatoes, green lettuce, yellow mustard, etc...
  • Please use COLORED PENCILS or MARKERS ( colored pencils allow you to achieve more value  - use varied pressure when coloring to get a range of lights and darks
  • laye and overlap shapes to create depth
  • TAKE YOU TIME - do not rush this drawing...they will look fabulous if you take your time and put in good effort!
Here are some examples of sandwich drawings I found on Artsonia from other schools:

Art Binder Assignment # 8 "Me Myself and I"

Yep, you guessed it, this one is a self-portrait.  Throughout history, artists have used themselves as inspiration for creating art.  For this final art binder assignment, I would like you to create a self-portrait using any media you would like (no photography please - you can use a photograph to assist your drawing, but I want to see you actually drawing/painting for this assignment)
You can work realistically or abstract, but you should use your face as inspiration.    These drawings/paintings are due the week of May 20th.  Please check the portal for your exact due date!

Here are some things to think about:
  • What materials will I use (always begin with a light pencil underdrawing)
  • What is my composition going to look like?  - close up, will I fill in a background, will I include all or part of my face...
  • What kind of expression will be on my face
  • Am I going to try to capture myself realistically or abstractly
Here are a few examples from other student artists found on Artsonia:
