QUARTER THREE BINDER ASSIGNMENTS 2015

Art Binder Assignment #5  "All About the Oscars"

Ever since I was a little girl, I LOVED watching the Oscars!  I usually had no idea what the movies were about, or who was actually getting an award, but that didn't matter because I was only interested in the gorgeous fashion that adorned the stage each time an award was given.   Now, as an adult, I still LOVE watching the Oscars, but I am much more interested in the actual movies and who is winning what award. With the Oscars just around the corner on February 22nd, let's be inspired by this exciting event filled with fashion, film and famous faces!

For this binder assignment, you can "choose your own adventure!"

Pick from the one of the following below, or do them all for extra credit!

  1. Design an outfit you would wear to the Oscars, fit for the red carpet.  This drawing should focus on the clothing, but there should be some type of "body" in the clothing, much like a fashion designer would draw (no real details necessary for the face) COLORED PENCIL ONLY!
  2. Design a movie poster for a movie you think should win, (or should have won) an Oscar.  You can also design an ORIGINAL movie poster for your own creative movie concept! You can create this poster with colored pencil or marker.
  3. Choose a famous actress or actor and using a picture as a reference (NO TRACING) create a portrait drawing.
This binder assignment can be drawn on the 81/2x11 art binder paper in my room, or any other drawing paper that size or larger.  All drawings are due the week of February 9th. Be sure to check your myUSM for your section's exact due date.

Art Binder Assignment #6 "Recycle the Roll"

Have you heard the phrase, "One man's trash is another man's treasure?"  Well, hopeful this idiom rings true for our next art binder assignment!

I often see artists repurposing recycled materials and transforming them into amazing works of art, so my idea for this binder assignment was to take an everyday item we all have access to, and upcycle it into a work of art.

So here is your #6 assignment that will be due the week of March 9th.
Be sure to check myUSM for your exact due date!

  1. Find an empty toilet paper roll or paper toweling tube (you may use more than one or a combination of rolls)
  2. Transform it into a work of art using any materials you want!

THAT'S IT!  2 Simple steps, but remember the 4 areas you are assessed on:

  • Criteria
  • Creativity
  • Craftsmanship
  • Composition
I hope to see A LOT of original and unique ideas.  The sky is the limit, so push your creativity and originality!
